What are you doing on your snow days? Reading hopefully. I have a confession to make though...I am not reading today. After looking over this, my website, I realized that I haven't written a blog post since I started the site in August of 2013! I need to do better! My new goal...before I start reading, I will write a blog post. When I'm finished reading, I will write a blog post. I want to set a goal to write at least one blog post a week, starting now.
During these snow days, I've also decided to start writing a newsletter, monthly and weekly. I've created a page titled Newsletter Archives to keep them all posted. March is a busy library month with lots of celebrations. We've also been receiving lots of new books every month from the Junior Library Guild that I would like to showcase and show off to the students. I'm going to print off the weekly newsletters and hang them around school, in the bathrooms probably. So, check them out and let me know what you think.
Okay, I can't stand it anymore...Gotta go read! I love reading. I love that my job allows me to read, promote reading, and talk about awesome books with my students. Today I'm going to start reading the sequel to Steelheart, Firefight by Brandon Sanderson. Steelheart was a KBA nominee this year. I read all 10 6-8 nominees and all 10 9-12 nominees every year when the books are announced in April. Out of the 20, Steelheart was the one I chose to read last. Why? Because I didn't like the cover art. I judge books by their covers-another confession. I do believe though, I saved the best for last. Although, I wasn't looking forward to reading it at all, I was so sad when it was over! It was/is one of my favorites of all times. I couldn't wait for the sequel to come out. I usually hate series books, and try not to even read them until they are all out-so I can read them all at once-but I just can't wait any longer. I'll let you know what I think about Firefight when I finish it.
Hope everyone is keeping warm with a good book during these snow days!
